Built around our Neve VR Legend console, the control room at Chamber is a spacious, comfortable area for artists to relax in whilst being closely involved in the recording / mixing process. We have a separate machine room adjacent to the main control room housing power supplies, tape machines, computers etc. The control room is air conditioned.
Our live room has been designed to be as versatile as possible. At one end, the main room features a largely wood and bare concrete finish, making it an ideal and lively space to record acoustic instruments, especially drums. The other end is carpeted with a great deal more acoustic treatment in contrast to the open sound of the live end. The main room, whilst slightly L-shaped, is roughly 12m x 8m in size.
There are also four booths off the main room. All are different sizes/acoustics but have been built with sight lines to each other and the main room in mind, making it possible to do live recordings with almost complete acoustic separation, without losing contact between musicians.
While we believe that the artists’ close involvement in the recording process is essential, we also understand the need for being able to detach from it for a while. At Chamber we have a lounge area with sofas, television, games consoles, card table etc to allow artists to unwind.
We also have a small kitchenette kitted out with the essentials – coffee machine, microwave, kettle and fridge as well as bathroom facilities.
